You don't realise it at first, but now you know: you are the cautionary tale. The one parents tell to their kids to warn them against getting married too young or too soon, you are the story that gets told over dinner to millions of young people. You married your highschool sweetheart when you were both far too young, you had your first child together before you'd really sat to consider the implications of starting a family. You didn't realise the effect it would have on the trajectory of your life until it was too late. Until you were offered the position of Detective; a massive step, but one that would mean longer hours and more time spent away from your wife and your daughter. You didn't realise until the day that you did. Until the day your wife changed into a cautionary tale of her own. Bitter and angry and hateful towards you, the man she blamed for ruining her life.You hid it, at the start. Didn't allow anyone to see the way your marriage was crumbling, the way your wife now spoke to you. You hid it from everyone, content to remain in this lie if it meant keeping your family together. Content with this until the day that your wife turned on your daughter: your sweet, innocent seven year old daughter. And you couldn't hide it any longer. But it didn't matter, it didn't matter how well you lied to your colleagues and your friends: someone knew. Someone knew and was intent on sending you threats and cryptic clues, but you brushed it off.

You ignore the notes and the threats and you start the proceedings to divorce your wife and gain sole custody of your daughter and no one can say they are surprised when you win. When you take your kid and move to the city to start fresh in your new role as Detective. Orianna didn't understand, but you couldn't blame her for it; you were taking her away from everything and everyone she had come to know. But you knew that one day... one day she would understand.The notes continued to your new home and you began to obsess over them, what they could mean. Two years you tried and two years you failed to figure out the mystery. And now you must live with the guilt of knowing that you could have stopped it from happening if you only followed your gut.It's her tenth birthday and you have everything planned, the entire day down to the second. You would make this memorable for her, to apologise in a way for uprooting her life. She still had school and you still had work, but after... you had it all planned. Until you went to pick her up and she wasn't there. Until you asked her teachers and they didn't know where she was. Orianna never came home that day. And you knew. Deep down you knew that this is what all of the notes and the clues were supposed to tell you. That you had failed her at the most basic level; you couldn't keep her safe.

The note you found that night told you not to say a word to anyone, and you couldn't risk your daughter: your world. So here you are, alone, trying to solve the puzzle of who took your daughter.

PRE MAIN: set during jedidiah's time back in his small home town. he's going through legal proceedings to obtain sole custody of his daughter after divorcing his high school sweetheart. jed is around 34 in this verse, orianna is around 7.MAIN: set after jedidiah has moved to the city with his daughter. this will span the period of time before her disappearance, but will be focused on after this event. jed is going crazy trying to figure out the clues being sent by an unknown party, whilst also attempting to keep up with his job.SUPERNATURAL: follows jed's canon events, with the addition that jed is part of a task force within the police that investigates cases of a supernatural nature, liaising with particular hunting families. Works for: TVD, teen wolf, supernatural etc.POST APOC: previously a detective, jed's daughter is taken just a week or so before the apocalypse truly occurs. he's now searching for her whilst still somehow receiving clues as to her location from whomever has her.

STRANGER THINGS: rather than moving to the city, jed and orianna move to hawkins, jed joining the sheriffs department in hopper's absence. will span the period of time before her disappearance, but will be focused on after this. jed is trying to figure out the clues sent by an unknown party, whilst attempting to keep up with his job and the happenings of hawkins.MARVEL: follows the events of jed's canon, but he's contacted by a former coworker that now works as part of the department of damage control. they reconnect and end up working together with cases that could fall under both their jurisdictions; this allows jed to see the world of the enhanced, as well as further resources for his own investigation.CRESCENT CITY: moves to crescent city after winning his custody battle. works as a high ranking detective within the auxiliary due to his jaguar shifter status.FANTASY: TBA.
